The LAGON (Light on orgAnics, Glycans and Organic Nanoparticles) team develops optically and biologically active molecular-based tools to study and impact living systems. Our fundamental and experimental approaches allow us to explore the following topics :
- Molecular photonics: synthesis of photoactive molecules and fundamental study of structure-property relationships (molecular engineering, linear and non-linear optical properties)
- Nanophotonics: development of photoactive multifunctional nanoparticles
- Investigation of confinement effects on linear and non-linear optical properties
- Biophotonics and Multiphotonics: Photo-active nanoparticles for optical bioimaging (including multiphotonic excitation induced fluorescence and SHG), drug-delivery (cages), photoactivated therapy (PDT and PTT) and biosensors
- Chemo-glycobiology: chemical and enzymatic synthesis of natural and unnatural carbohydrates for studying and exploiting the biological role of cellular sugars (glycans) for diagnostic and therapeutic applications
- Click Bioorthogonal Chemistry: development of novel chemical probes (fluorogenic) and reporters for biomolecule labeling and fluorescence imaging both in vitro and in living cells
The LAGON team also hosts the NanoMultiPhot platform dedicated to optical characterization of organic molecules and nanoparticles (resp. J. Daniel)
