Polymer dielectrics and (semi-)conductors constitute a new class of functional materials and represent an alternative to conventional complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technologies. Due to their soft nature and ease of processability, organic materials are well suited for applications for large area and/or flexible devices. Thanks to these unique properties, organic materials has the potential to give birth to disruptive innovations, providing solutions to some of the current challenges in energy, environment, information and communication. In particular, the self-assembly properties of polymer materials can be exploited to texture surfaces or design particles to trigger on-demand responses with enhanced functionality.
